Bad Sunday

So I had every intention to post this on Sunday night...but, I didnt. We had a very long, and when I say long, I mean lonnnng, and frustrating day Sunday. My loving hubby was on the last 24 of his 48 hour shift, and the girls drove. me. crazy. The morning started like every other morning. The girls woke up at about 8, and I got up, changed Addys diaper, and got breakfast prepared. They ate breakfast, and played well while I picked up the house. Then I decided to sit down on my bed and read. For ten minutes. NOT a good idea. Izzy came into my room with chocolate on her face. I had no idea what I was in for. I went into the playroom and discovered that she had gotten her AND her sister each a pudding cup out of the fridge and somehow managed to open both of them. So I got to clean up chocolate off of both kids, the table, and the walls! Ok, that was mostly my fault for thinking I could sit down and read. FOR TEN MINUTES. So, that wasnt the end of the world. Then, we had to leave the house to run some errands. By this point, it was mid afternoon and Addy had already had her nap in. Good right? I had gotten myself ready, Addy changed and dressed, diaper bag packed, Izzy dressed, and then came shoes. Izzy is a freak about her shoes. Always. This day, she insisted on wearing goofy character socks with her pink jelly shoes. She was wearing a dress. The answer was "no." On a normal day, she would have just taken the "no" and put on her jellies, sans the socks. Not on this day. She had a meltdown. Meltdown is actually an understatement. She kicked and screamed, cried and threw a ridiculous fit..because I would'nt let her wear socks with jellies. At this point, I didnt even care to take my child out of the house looking like a dork wearing socks with jellies and a dress. But I couldnt give in to her tantrum. So it went on, and onnn. I put her in time-out, threatened to take things away, and ended up putting a favorite baby in the basement (worst punishment ever!) before it finally stopped. While all of this was going on, Addy was playing in the playroom, where apparently also housed a cup of Izzy's juice from lunch. When I finally got Izzy's tantrum under control, I went to pick up Addy so we could leave, and discovered she was soaked in juice. Sooo, I had to change her AGAIN, before leaving. Izzy's still upset about her baby being alone in the basement. More tears shed. We FINALLY leave the house, and run errands. We stop by to see hubby, mostly to see him, and partly so I could take the girls inside to him, and go outside ALONE to sit for five minutes, by myself. lol. Then, I decide to go to the grocery store. I only needed a few things, it should be fine right? Wrong. I was already frazzled and going to Kroger was the worst idea ever. The kids werent particularly bad, I was just stressed already, so everything they did worked my nerves. If you saw me at Kroger that day, I PROBABLY tried to give you my children. My apologies. So the day ended with the kids in bed by 8pm sharp. The rest of the night was fine. The next day, (Monday) Hubby and I went to Holiday World. All day, just the two of us. I needed that break desperately. Considering most days I dont even pee by myself, a whole day with just my hubby, at an amusement park was a HUGE deal! Then I saw a little girl that was about Addys age there, and my heart melted. I missed my babies! Then I was wishing that Izzy was there to ride all of the fun rides. I know I needed a 'me' day, but Brandon and I talked about our babies all day, and we were so happy to see them that night. Some days, they seriously drive me crazy, but I love them with all my heart and I dont know what I would do with myself without them:)
Addy and the pudding mess!!:)

Words that need to go away

Some of the words I sometimes wish I could delete from Izzy's vocabulary:
#1. "WHYYYYYYYYY?!?!"
#2. "I cant!!" example..Me-"Izzy, bring me your plate from the table." Izzy-"I can't!"
#3."Fine......" example..Me:"Izzy, you need to pick up your toys." Izzy-"but" Me-"Izzy, please do what I asked you to do." Izzy-"Fine......"
#4. "NO!" My little Addy is already starting this one. Except hers is "huh-uh!"

Even though sometimes I wish these words didn't exist, the sweet words cancel them all out. The other day we were driving and Izzy saw two people walking down the sidewalk. She said "Mom, it looks like they don't have a car. WHY?!" I said "I don't know baby, maybe they don't have enough money to buy one." She said "awwww...they don't have a car. Poor guys." So sweet that she's showing sympathy for others. That same drive, she saw a dog tied up in a yard. She said "Aww, poor dog. He can't go anywhere. Some mean girl must have tied him up!" She has said some of the most adorable things to me in the past couple years. "You're the best mom ever." "You're so pretty." "I love you so much." Also, she makes up random, adorable songs. Example-"I do my besttttttt....and I'm so smartttt!!!" and "You are so loveddddd..in my hearttttt!!"
So, all in all, I am so grateful that she has a full vocabulary and that shes so smart and can voice her opinion well. Sometimes I wish she just wouldn't use some of those words QUITE so often:)

My sweet and sassy Izabella Grace
On a side note, Izzy has been begging me to do ballet. Hence the ballerina themed room. I think she is craving contact with other kids (and adults for that matter). I have looked into it, and the place I want to take her doesn't start classes until August. Kind of a bummer that its still a couple months away, but she is really looking forward to it (and talking about it every. single. day.). So we will have to fill our summer days with other fun stuff, and keep dreaming about August and ballet classes:-)

So, I decided I wanted to re-do my girls' bedroom. Actually, I decided I wanted to re-do my whole house..but I had to start somewhere. lol Of course, it started with my girls' room. Izzy is getting too big for her toddler bed, and we are just ready for a change! We have had the same Classic Pooh decor since I was pregnant with Izzy, over four years ago, and I'm soo over it. After much debate (in my own head) I decided on a 'theme'. I was going to do owls, but finally decided on a shabby chic-ish ballerina room. I am SO excited to start this process. I am getting a bed frame and headboard from Craigslist on Monday and I have to paint it, so there will be many more blogs about their room I'm sure. This is just what I have so far:)
So here's what the room looks like now:
So plain...

With messed up blinds. My kids like to look out the window at whatever cost:)

These two girls make the room amazing though. Just with their presence.

So, here is what I've purchases so far, for the new 'big girl' room:
I found this at a thrift shop for $7.50

Another thrift store find. Got them all for $3. Gonna hang them on the wall.
The wallpaper I got from a yard sale for 50 cents. The drawer pulls I got from Hobby Lobby and they were on sale. I got all 8 for $24. I'm going to *try* to wallpaper the fronts of the drawers on their dresser.
All of my loot. So far I think Ive spent about $30. The bedding is all quilts that my Granny made so they were free.
